So, i was making this game, alright? And look, i'm somebody who wants to make good stuff but With this game in particular, i was like "You know what? I don't want to make the greatest thing ever just a thing". And let me tell you, i realised that his mentally is not good. When you're not proud of something, you can't really make yourself like the thing you're doing. So instead of setting for mediocrity, i decided to just go ahead and can the project. As sad as it is, i didn't make much progress with the game anyway, just getting mostly art assets done and an whole ass OST, which is what i'll be showing you today! To put it simply, it was a simple as heck 2D platformer. So simple to the point where a game that i was making some tracks for actually had the same plot of my game. To start things off, the track that plays in the menu wasn't a original track, it was just a track from another game that i used and slowed down in engine. It sounded way too nice for me to change. The track is called "Water Goddess Mitula" from the game Shining Force 2. Thing is, i heard it from a game called Sonic.EYX, and i thought of using it. In fact, the game was originally going to have an UST (which is to say, the tracks that where going to be used in game are just from other games). I just decided to make a OST because i genuinely have a ton of fun with making music. Slimey ForestThe track for the first level. The reason for the "slimey" was that the first enemy i made looked like a smile, similar to the one from Dragon Quest, but purple and with a mean >:C face. Its the first level, so it needs to convey that friendliness that platformer games usually have. Afterall, the game's overall tone was light. Water! This is supposed to be a reference to a game i personally haven't even played yet. The only tip i'll give is this: This was supposed to be a bait-and-switch level for a beach. Not my favorite, and i just think it's because it sounds unconventional. The level was going to be a auto run level where the protagonist was going to go really quickly above water, flying. You'd only be able to go up and down. There was also a idea for a mechanic that was having collectables especific to this level only, that you'd need to collect in order to get to end, and they would be mostly mandatory, or else you'd just fall to the depths of the ocean. Arenaceous Nightly Caverns These names i'm giving are just at face value because, despite me liking most of them, i can't be bothered to come up with a proper name for them. Anyways, yeah, you can imagine what the level theming is. The idea was that the protagonist would have a way to light up the caverns, and so would be the only gimmick of the level, alongside a maze like design, which probably would not be very fun. The idea to set the level at night is because of the weird ominous synth thing. Castle A theme for a castle level. Idea of the level was that it was going to be mostly vertical. Didn't elaborate it very much outside of that. The leitmotif in the beginning was put in the end of the boss theme, and the boss leitmotif from the ending of this track came first from the boss theme. Boss Whole ass boss fight. I personally really like this track. The boss of the game would be an old OC that i never used for anything outside of her originally being used for another another game i wanted to do (that, come to think of it, i created quite some time ago). This was a track i made just the intro for, and i made it for no reason, but then i decided to continue from that intro and i made this. Also i didn't even realise this until after i made one of the melodies, but there's one that sounds like the menu theme for Cave Story. Also also, i'm just now noticing how long this track is. Its unnecessarily long. End Credits Despite the fact i would be the only person to work on the game, this was going to be the track for the ending. It was originally meant for the desert level but ehh, doesn't sound deserty. Space A space level theme, unlocked via getting all of the coin collectables you'd be able to get throughout the game. I think it sounds pretty cool. An idea for the level was that it would have low gravity, you'd find aliens and have to go back to your spaceship, and go back to Earth. The track was originally made for a Crash Bandicoot level idea, where he would be in space, but i scrapped it, but then went back to finish it for this game like the boss theme. Almost There! Wanna know the funny part about this track? I almost forgot completly about it, and just remembered about it the day before posting this. It was meant for the water level, when you'd get close to the end. It uses the time signature from Water! despite not sounding like it and that's because i didn't know how to make markers in FL at the time. If you'd like to see some more, small things about the game, i made a Gamejolt page for it. Be warned; it's crappy. And there's very little. You can also listen to the OST on my Soundcloud Also, in case you're wondering, you are free to use or to download these songs and stuff. Just please don't reupload them without giving credit, or else you'll be a head. On the floor... I'll decapitate you. To finish things of, i'm not giving up on making a game completly. In fact, the reason i scrapped this in the first place was to make a better, more charismatic and original, remarkable game instead of setting for mediocrity. Anyways, thanks for reading and stuff. Have a good one!
